About Me:

Hello Parents/Caregivers and Students,

I was born and raised on Chicago's northwest side in Portage Park and love my city and its people. I earned my Bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Psychology/Human Development and came to teaching after having a career in Mental Health services at a non-profit providing support to adults with various mental health diagnoses and developmental disabilities. While doing this work, I realized that many of my clients were very capable, but their school experience was not sufficient. Because of this,  I went back to school and earned my Master's from University of Illinois at Chicago's school of education in Special Education (LBS1). Since then, I have earned my Middle School Science and Teaching English as a Second Language endorsements and am currently working on a second Master's degree in Differentiated Instruction Leadership at Concordia University Chicago.

I started my career in education as a paraprofessional and later a special education teacher at Noble's UIC College Prep but after student teaching at Von Steuben decided to make the transition to a CPS middle school. I have been at Stone for almost 7 years supporting our students with diverse needs.

This year, I will the learning specialist and coteaching with Ms. Pfest for advisory, 6th, and 8th grade science, Ms. Karic in 7th math, and Mr. Westfall in 7th grade science. I have been very fortunate to have worked with Ms. Karic for the last 4 years and Ms. Pfest for the last 6.5. This has allowed us to build our relationship as coteachers and our ability to help ALL students within our classroom.
